After a rather depressing meeting with a manager I had to catch a train back to my place of work-fun. As I walked past what had been Juice Moose I realised that there was a new sign in its place. The Exploding Bakery.
A Wholesale Bakery? Where is Juice Moose, whats happened?
Upon entering its modern grey frontage, you are confronted with the bare workings of the bakery. The large bowls, silver vats of home-made stuff and an array of hot drinks to take away with some Burts crisps and other assorted goodies on the left of the counter. My first purchase at The Exploding Bakery was a delicious take-away soup and bread, all for £2.50 and in a nice little bag. The food and drink all seem to be very good value for money, and the tea is lovely.
The Exploding Bakery reminds me of places like Mast Brothers Chocolate or The Tartine Bakery, a brand of hip bakery that has been reinvented and packaged for the 21st Century. Now all they need is some photos on The Selby and they’ll be immortalised in the collective hipster consciousness for all eternity. The staff all seem nice and friendly and the smells that were emanating from it when I popped in on Wednesday were simply divine.

/ 11/03/2011Although I am excited about what The Exploding Bakery could offer, I have to say it is sad to see Juice Moose go though. There doesn’t seem to be anywhere else in Exeter like JM?
